Wizard Festival Update

Wizard festival organisers have looked to the stars for inspiration in 2008 and have come up with a stellar musical line up as a result.

First out of the Wizard’s cauldron is none other than those icons of indie, Supergrass.

Often regarded as one of the main players on the indie music scene for more than a decade, Supergrass have outlived (just about!), outclassed and outdone many of their Britpop contemporaries. Renowned for their live performances the band is certain to put a spark into any festival camp fire. With a new album called Diamond Hoo Ha out this month, (March 24) and a string of sold out shows in the pipeline (they have just had to add another night to their sold out London Astoria gigs in April), this performance has got to be a must see of the Scottish festival season.

Following them onto the starlit bill, and certain to cause an all out blaze, are the gladiators of punk, The Damned. With a direct lineage dating back to ’76, when punk music was still being given a name, The Damned have more than thirty years of trailblazing music making in their wake. These purveyors of punk are sure to be one of the Wizard weekends most explosive experiences.

More acts will be named over the coming weeks as Wizard organisers pull together a diverse and prestigious line-up of performers for the North East’s most fearless festival. All genres of music will be catered for on the road to Wizard, from rock and roll to rockabilly and back via reggae and pop.

At Wizard it is not all about big names. We are committed to bringing festival goers the best in new up and coming Scottish and UK acts too. Stay tuned for some special surprises in the weeks and months to come.
